Lizard Island Diving

Lizard Island is one of the pristine places located within the World Heritage Listen Great Barrier Reef, where you can experience world class diving charter to the open waters and witness amazing coral reefs, beautifully coloured reef fish and all the colours of the rainbow.

Lizard Island has long been one of the best known spots for tourist and professional divers to come and explore the beautiful coral underwater gardens that lie just north of Cooktown. It is here that you can see Potato Cods, Maori Wrasse, Emperor, Red Bass, Giant Clams, reef sharks and many other marine species for yourself. The fish are very prone to welcoming visitors so bring your camera and get some great shots for the album.

Many of the diving charters that operate daily trips out to the Great Barrier Reef can easily supply you with any equipment that you may need, all tailored into a great package to suit you. You can bring you own gear but it isn’t necessary! If you have never done any diving before but would really like to see why so many people love to do it, there are some great diving classes that you can book yourself into so that you can be out in the open waters in no time at all.

Not only can have you have world class diving right at your doorstep while you are holidaying on beautiful Lizard Island, but there are other activities such as hiring a catamaran or taking a glass bottom boat trip or even jumping on a paddle ski for the afternoon. There are motorised dinghies and tennis courts to make full use of and some great self guided island walks and nature trails that you can embark on.
